1.       Bob’s been through this.  He is an Iraqi Combat Vet who understands the transition from soldier (Marine, etc) to civilian/student.

3.       Bob has developed excellent relationships with community partners, including VA, and can assist in getting answers to your questions when you just don’t know who to ask or where to turn.

4.       As a VOC employee, Bob can directly connect veteran students AND THEIR FAMILIES with all of the services VOC has to offer for educational resources and beyond (employment development, technical training, financial counseling, creative arts therapy, and more!)

Veterans Outreach Center Education Counseling Services

As our newest veterans return from war, many are enrolling in school to take advantage of the educational opportunities offered under the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Area community colleges are the first choice of many veteran students for a number of reasons. Realizing this, Veterans Outreach Center and Monroe Community College have entered into a new partnership to better serve our veteran students and their families.
The goals of this new collaboration are to assist with issues related to veteran students' current studies at MCC and to facilitate and encourage a successful transition to a 4 year College or University in order to set the conditions for future career success. To accomplish this, VOC will, among other things, provide:

-On site staff to assist with coordination of and access to Educational, Veterans, and Wellness Services and Benefits, both on campus and with our community partners
-Peer Mentoring/Advocacy
-Professional Development of Faculty and Staff
-Assistance with Transition to a 4 Year College/University

VOC and our community partners understand that some veteran students wish to enter the work force upon graduation from MCC and we are ready to assist them. For those veteran students who opt for employment following MCC, VOC offers a wide range of Employment Services including Vocational Counseling, Job Search, Advocacy, and Placement Assistance. Whether it be active assistance such as resume development and employer referrals or something as easy as forwarding your resume to the local companies that take part in our Job Expo, VOC’s Employment Specialists are here to help.

Providing these Education Counseling Services will be Bob Mitchell, Education Resource Coordinator. Bob is an OIF combat veteran who has also attended school under the Post 9/11 GI Bill.
