The Green Initiative for Veterans’ Employment is an employment retraining project created to encourage local industries to adapt environmentally friendly and sustainable practices while providing training and gainful employment to military veterans in rewarding occupational specialties. With more than 28 program graduates, VOC has placed 90% of those individuals in full-time green jobs.

Veterans Outreach Center, Inc. and Monroe 2–Orleans BOCES Center for Workforce Development (CWD) have joined forces to recruit, train, and put veterans to work in two of the rapidly growing local Green Technology industries, HVAC, CNC Machining, and Building Maintenance

The Center for Workforce Development has adapted its 605-hour HVAC, CNC Machining, and Building Maintenance Technology Programs to include the latest Green Technology standards, practices and methodologies. A hands-on, two-week apprenticeship is included. The following nationally recognized certifications are obtainable through this program: Universal EPA 608 Refrigeration License, R-410A Certification, OSHA Construction Safety, and Forklift. Employment placement assistance will be provided through Veterans Outreach Center.

CWD training is VA approved for funding, and qualified candidates can use their new GI Bill benefits, the NYS Veterans’ Tuition Assistance Program, or additional sources.
