The Resource Center, opened in 1999
at 457 South Avenue, offers programs and
services designed to help veterans reenter the work force. Veterans receive
career counseling, skills assessment, resume assistance, job readiness
and occupational skills training, career development and placement services,
focus groups to address employment problems, weekly job networking meetings and on-site employer recruitment activities, and access to a job information library.
The Resource Center also administers two projects funded by the U.S.Department of Labor. The Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program outreaches to homeless veterans in the Rochester five county area and works to stabilize these vets for reintegration into the community's workforce. The Veterans Workforce Investment Program offers training and employment opportunities for recently discharged, campaign or combat era vets, disabled veterans, and vets with serious barriers to employment. Additional employment and training support for disabled veterans is received from the Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust (for more information, see www.dav.org).
All veterans and their dependents in need of vocational assistance are welcome to request assistance.
